COVID-19 UPDATE 5/1: ATTENTION COASTAL CLIMBING COMMUNITY

As you may be aware, The City of Charleston issued a "Stay at Home" order, that among other measures, will extend the closure of gyms including Coastal Climbing.

This order was extended and will now remain in effect until at least May 15th.

Reopening Date: While this can be hard to predict with any real certainty, we will be ready to welcome you back to the gym the moment we are allowed to legally reopen our doors.

All of us here at Coastal Climbing want to thank you for the supportive emails and social media shout outs that we have received over the past few weeks. The kindness and encouragement of our community is what keeps us going during these difficult and unprecedented times.

Memberships: We will not be billing active members until we get confirmation from State and Local authorities that we are legally able to re-open our doors. If you need to freeze your membership outside of these parameters please scroll down to the Member Resources at the bottom of this page for more information.

We hope to be back open and climbing with you soon.

In health,

Kensie and Jeanna Whitfield

& The Coastal Climbing Staff

All of us here at Coastal Climbing want to thank you for your support and understanding as we respond to the rapidly changing situation facing all of us. After much thought and consideration, we have made the very difficult decision to close effective March 17th at 9PM. We have been closely following the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and per the health official guidelines, we want to do our part to protect our community and socially distance ourselves to keep our staff and clients safe, as this our #1 priority. It was the weight of people's health and lives that pushed our decisions. We need to be part of the solution, not the problem. #flattenthecurve.

We will continue to seek guidance from the CDC and state and local health authorities and will announce any modifications to this closure in the coming days. While we're anxious to reopen our doors and climbing walls as soon possible we understand this is an unprecedented situation.

What is in our control is to strongly encourage all of you to beginning adhering to the warnings and start practicing stronger social distancing. Doing so will only improve everyone's chances of getting back to work and climbing a whole lot faster.

With that in mind, please see Member Resources below for details as to the handling of this closure:

As you move forward with your decisions about your memberships, we ask that you keep a couple of things in mind - most importantly our staff. Choosing to maintain your membership will directly improve our ability to continue paying our staff . Unlike unemployment benefits, we are committed to paying our employees for as long as we can. In order to do so, we ask those of you who are financially able, to please stick with us through this difficult time and continue your membership. If maintaining your full membership rate is not possible, additional options are available.

If freezing and/or requesting a credit for March is your choice, we completely understand and have made it easy for you to do so on our website. We also ask for your understanding that these decisions are not just our own but rather the socially responsible, and the government recommended, actions required of us in the face of this unprecedented global event.

Coastal Climbing has always been committed to providing the best experience possible and that will not change after we reopen - it will only improve! We hope your experience at Coastal Climbing has been enjoyable and that you will stay with us through this time.

During the Closure

While our doors may be locked, our staff are not idle. We are committed to maintaining the same Coastal Climbing community engagement we all know and love.

Stay tuned for more information about uplifting at home workout and other tools to keep us connected and mentally and physically healthy during this difficult time!

We are proud of the strength and resilience of our community and we know we will emerge from this current challenge united and stronger than ever. We look forward to re-opening and would like to take this time to let members of our community know that we encourage them to reach out if they need assistance during this difficult time. We're all in this together and we're lucky to have you!

Thank you for being an important part of the Coastal Climbing Family.
